Artisan cheesery, Bush Hill Cheese, has proudly received two silver awards in the prestigious 2024 Food&Home Best in Food Awards. The KZN-based cheesery received a Silver Award for camembert in the Soft Cheeses Category and a Silver Award for halloumi in the Cheeses Category.
“This is the first time we have entered this competition and we are delighted to have been awarded silver for both our halloumi and camembert; both are outstanding cheeses and we are so pleased the panel of judges agree!”, said owner of Bush Hill Cheese, John Kidger.
Bush Hill Cheese, which produces a range of hand-crafted cheeses and dairy products produced in Creighton, southern KZN, supplies restaurants, hotels, lodges, delicatessens and retail outlets throughout KZN, and more recently into Gauteng.
The annual Food&Home Awards are a nod to South Africa’s progressive culinary landscape and seeks to recognise the finest brands and products the country has to offer.

- Leading this year’s panel Bianca Muller, the editor of Food&Home magazine, is renowned for her insatiable curiosity for new dishes and local eateries.
 - Thilivhali Mugwena, affectionately known as “Meals with Mash,” is a chef and content creator who captivates audiences with her mouth-watering recipes and digital storytelling.
 - Jezza-Rae Larsen, a talented recipe developer and food stylist, combines her love for culinary arts with creativity, crafting dishes that are both beautiful and flavourful.
 - Chef Funi (Lufuno Sinthumule), a celebrated chef and cookbook author, brings a wealth of experience to the table with a special love for baked goods.
 - Shawn Godfrey, MasterChef South Africa 2022 winner and creator of “The Roasted Dad”, brought his passion for South African ingredients and cuisine to the judging panel.
 - Dominique Fuchs, the food lover behind “Kosvraat”, is known for her honest reviews and delightful recipes, especially her signature sweets.
